Room-Size Checker: Will a Sauna Fit Your Room?
Enter your room's length, width and height, the sauna's listed footprint and height, and the clearances from its manual. The checker shows fits, tight or doesn't fit.
This tool needs JavaScript to calculate. Without it, use the steps and guidance on this page.
Uses only the numbers you enter. 'Tight' means the sauna fits in the room but leaves less than the clearances you entered.
This is a fit estimate, not a safety or code approval. Clearances to walls, ceiling and combustibles come from the manufacturer's manual; indoor installs may need a permit and inspection.
How to check by hand
- Measure your room's length, width and height.
- Find the sauna's outside width, depth and height on the listing or spec sheet.
- Find the clearances in the manual.
- Add the side clearances to the sauna's width, and the front and back clearances to its depth. Add the ceiling clearance to its height.
- If the room is at least that big in each direction, it fits. If the sauna fits but the clearances don't, it's tight. If the sauna itself is bigger than the room in any direction, it doesn't fit.
- For a room you build, work out the room volume (length × width × height) and compare it with the heater's listed range.
Check with your local building department and HOA.
